Introduction
Welcome to Liminal Therapy Limited. By accessing or using our counselling services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not access or use our services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, we do not offer services to anyone below the age of 18. If you are using services on behalf of an organization, you agree to these terms on behalf of that organization.
2. Services Provided
Liminal Therapy Limited offers counselling services, which may include but are not limited to individual therapy, group therapy, workshops, talks and events. All services are provided for informational and therapeutic purposes only.
3. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a vital part of the counselling relationship. All personal information shared with counsellors will be kept private in accordance with UK privacy laws and the BACP Code of Ethics. All information recorded and held is solely to maintain effective therapeutic service.
However, the BACP requires counsellors to be in regular clinical supervision to ensure high-quality therapeutic services, and client work is shared anonymously with supervisors to facilitate these sessions. Counselling supervision is a professional practice in which a therapist or counsellor meets regularly with a more experienced colleague (the supervisor) to discuss their work, receive guidance, and ensure that they provide effective and ethical services to their clients.
We may disclose information if required by law or if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. This will be covered further in our contract which is available for all new clients.
4. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for their own well-being. While our counsellors will provide guidance and support, the ultimate decision and responsibility regarding actions rests with the client. We are responsible to our clients, not for them. It is expected that clients will attend sessions regularly and communicate openly.
5. Payment Terms
Fees for services will be discussed before the start of counselling. Payments are due before or at the time of service delivery. We accept various payment methods, which will be specified during the initial assessment process.
6. Cancellation and Refund Policy
Clients must provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will result in a cancellation fee. Refunds for sessions will be provided at the company’s discretion.
7. Termination of Services
Liminal Therapy Limited reserves the right to terminate services at any time if it is deemed that the therapeutic relationship is not beneficial or for any other justifiable reason. In such cases, you will be informed, and we will guide you to alternative resources if necessary.
8. Limitation of Liability
Liminal Therapy Limited is committed to providing quality services, but we cannot guarantee specific results from counselling. Our work is non-directive since we work within a person-centred framework that values client autonomy and self-determination. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services.
9. Modifications to Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on our website, and it is your responsibility to review them periodically. Your continued use of our services following any changes signifies your acceptance of the new terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
11. Reviews and Endings
The Client and Counsellor will review sessions regularly to ensure the process is effective and allow for a collaborative working approach.
The client is not tied to a long-term contract and can cancel at any time without charge as long as 24 hours notice is given before an agreed session date.
There may be instances where a counsellor is unable to continue working with a client and we reserve the right to terminate our therapeutic contract at any time. In this case, we would work with the client to discuss alternative options or referrals if they are available to us. We reserve the right to not disclose the reason for ending our working relationship.
12. Contacting your counsellor
Contact outside sessions is only encouraged for rescheduling appointments. We are not a crisis service and therefore cannot offer 24-hour availability to clients. Please see the list of crisis contacts at the top of this page.
13. Referrals to Associate Therapists
There may be occasions when we make referrals to associate therapists when clients require specialist support or there is a conflict of interest. These practitioners are independent and will have their own terms and conditions, privacy policy and working contract. Liminal Therapy Limited is not responsible for any issues that arise after an agreed referral. Any concerns should be raised directly with the associate therapist or with their member organisation.
